Lier Lier Pants on Fire

My condo was forclosed on July 5th 2011. I knew it was coming and planned months in advance looking for a house to share with my mother. Every house we visited we had the same 2 questions. (I had it all in a spreadsheet too!) How long is the rental? (We were looking for 8yrs min) Is it pet friendly? (We wanted a medium dog like a lab).
We found 2 houses we likes. 1 was close to my work but was only available for 5 or 6 years when the Landlords were hoping to retire to it. The other was closer to my mother’s work. The landlord said it was the house he grew up in told us about living here, which room was his, his pets, the woods they used to play in and what kind of animals lived there. He owned the house next door as well where his son lived. It had a huge yard for my 2 sons. He wasn’t comfortable with big dogs, but a small dog or cat was OK. We moved in July 1st 2011. October 3rd he sold the property, he claims all but the house and .5 acres were sold (of the original 7 that were rented with the house). They cut down every tree. They ran over 3 baby bunnies, my 3year old found them dead. They displaced all the deer. The blocked the driveway because it came with the land they bought. Today I came home and they are cutting down the trees next to the house (within 3 ft of the house) I yelled at them and they won’t stop. My landlord won’t answer the phone. he keeps leaving messages on my mother’s voicemail saying he is bringing appraisers by and we have to move out. My son just started Kindergarten in September. MY mother doesn’t want to fight this and I can’t afford a lawyer. I can’t even afford a uhaul if we have to move again. I cleaned out my saving to move to this house and build a raised garden and paint the rooms something other than peach. Lawn Maintenance and snow removal are supposed to be included in out rent. We haven’t seen a lawn mower since August.
Next issue: The pet. since we couldn’t have a lab since it was “too big” we adopted a cat from the humane society. A 2 yr old indoor blk cat. The woman at the shelter has called 4 times saying the landlord has called them screaming at her volunteer’s that we aren’t allowed a cat. THe last time she said her volunteer was in tears when she got off the phone.
The landlord has has shown up a few times when we aren’t here. Coming in the house and changing the temp of the water heater and in the fridge. But I called the cops and they say a post it saying “I turned down the temperature” isn’t proof that anyone was in here. Doors will be opened that we usually keep closed. Lights will be on that I’m sure I turned off. He’s shown up at the house a few times when we are home too. He’ll stare in the window. But by the time I get a camera or the cops get here he is at his sons house next door and of course they vouch for him. I keep all the shades down now. I even have a few pics of him walking away, but the cops say it looks like he’s on his sons property in the pics and I just sound like the paranoid overworked single mom (the landlords words not mine) and he has lived here all his life and knows everyone.
I think he’s trying to get us to move out on our own so he doesn’t have to fight us. I don’t know what I can so, but I am tired and scared. Except for the 4 years I owned a condo, I’ve always rented and I’ve never had any trouble.

Michael & Daphne Serafini of Anthem, Arizona don’t waste your time!

Michael and Daphne Serafini. are two of the WORST owners anyone can rent from. They use to own a home in Queen Creek, AZ 2936 W. Jasper Butte but they lost it because the didn’t keep up with the payments and the bank foreclosed on the home with us in it. They are sneaky and didn’t have the common courtesy to inform us that they were $4500 dollars behind on the mortgage for the home. They tried to continue collecting rent even though they knew they had gone into foreclosure!! Mike is not business minded whatsoever! His wife Daphne is a piece of work, she is ghetto and loves to use the word N**** to her black tenants. She harasses by sending derogatory texts to your phone all times of nights. So if your come across these owners please by all means go the other way. They promise to clean the backyard and never did it and expected us to clean up their mess.

Fred Safaii

Avoid renting from Wilkins Development and Fred Safaii.  Exiting my lease he charged for repairs, when asked to provide proof via receipts
Of work. He ignored my requests.  He knows most of his tenants dont have tbe time to go to small claims.  So he nickel and dime to with
Numerous repairs for $200-400 and deducts them from your security deposit.
