My family rented our lake house on Cotton Lake to James (Jim) Bernhardt. Within the first couple months rent checks started to arrive late. Late checks transitioned to NSF checks followed by non-payment of rent. Attempts to workout payment terms with Jim failed because he would promise payment and the check would never arrive. Unfortunatally we had no choice but to seek legal counsel.
Do not rent from this landlord. He is crappy and will not repair anything. He will come out and check your appliances, plumbling, etc and then tell you it is working fine.
My refrigerator has been broken for 9 days and he has not repaired it. I cannot keep any food except in the freezer. He continues to say he checked it and it works.
I bought a thermometer and it reads 60 degrees. My food has spoiled. He called me a nag and hung up on me and will not return my phone calls.
