TenantDispute® is a worldwide consumer reporting Web site and publication, by consumers, for consumers, to file and document complaints about tenant, landlord or individuals. While we encourage and even require authors to only file truthful reports, TenantDispute® does not guarantee that all reports are authentic or accurate. Be an educated consumer. Read what you can and make your decision based upon an examination of all available information.
Unlike the Better Business Bureau, TenantDispute® does not hide reports of satisfied complaints. ALL complaints remain public and unedited in order to create a working history on the company or individual in question.
TenantDispute® was started because of having experienced a deadbeat tenant that took advantage of our trust and good will. We hope that others will not fall victim to the same person. Learn from the mistakes of others - not your own. If you have tenant or Landlord problems, this is the place to vent and find out how to handle these problems.

DO NOT RENT from the H. and D. Zeker in Wisconsin. I rented for them for a year and when my lease renewal came I signed it and sent it back. After they received my copy back over a month later they changed the terms. When I confronted them I was screamed at and swore at that I told them it was ok to change it. Because I confronted them They sent me a notice to vacate. I took them to court and they explained to the judge they thought they were helping me saying I said I might not be able to afford to stay. Which was untrue. They then tried to claim almost $3000 in damage. Which which was crazy seeing the only things we broke were a blind and a glass sheet fr0m a cheap cabinet. They wanted a new unit even though they owned it 20 years. So they didn’t win damages but they claimed it took over 10 hours to clean and remove my belongings. When only a few small items were left and my mother and I cleaned the unit prior to leaving. They are lying landlords that will do anything to get what they want. I’m not writing this to be vindictive but to inform people out there that apparently landlords can break leases without reason and have no consequence but if you as a tenant break a lease you will be responsible for quite a bit. Seems really unfair!!!
Kirkland landlord steals deposits and does not allow bathroom use after hours
I recently moved out a condo in the Houghton/Westview lake area. I moved to 6625 Lakeview Dr., #201, Kirkland Wa October1st, and moved out October 31st. This was a month to month lease. The deposit and rent were $1150 and paid in full. The agreement included a shared kitchen and bath. After the first two days the landlord who lives in the condo, said he might be giving me 10 days notice because he didn’t like the smell of the incense I burned to give relief from the stench coming from the kitchen which he said he would take care of. It was bags and bags of garbage under the kitchen sink and the vanity in the hall by the bathroom. The freezer and fridge are filled with rotting food and the stench is unbearable. The room I rented shared a makeshift wall with the kitchen which makes it so that every sound, especially the plumbing, can be heard loudly enough that you must pause any program you may be watching and all conversation unless you speak just short of yelling.
I was not allowed to use the restroom after 10pm without his calling me and talking about how disturbing the toilet flushing is and how it may not work out because he really doesn’t want roomates. This would be an hour to two hour call on my cell, while I live in the same condo and he is right down the hall. But he would wash his hands, clear his phlegm and wash up in the kitchen at 2am or 3am on a regular basis, and if I complained he threatened to give notice. There is no heat provided in the room and a space heater is necessary but if the heat bill goes up he charges you, even though heat was supposed to be included.
Bottom line is I gave notice, moved out and left the place cleaner than when I moved in. He agreed to give me back my deposit as soon as the new tenant moved in. Two days after I left there was someone in my old room. When I asked him about my deposit he said he was keeping it for cleaning and making the first month free for the new guy. This is the same thing he did to the tenant before me and he also took this mans money. He had informed me a week after i moved in, in passing, that he routinely does this if he can and doesn’t like the tenant and juggles the money and no one gets their deposit back. He was filthy, disgustingly would spit whatever came out of clearing his sinus’ and throat into the kitchen sink and on the faucet and area surrounding the sink.
The worst part was in order to keep the peace for that horrible month it was necessary to urinate in a bucket in the room or if early enough walk up to the PCC before 11pm. There are no locks on the bath, the vanity area or the other rooms, only his and he entered any room and bad mouthed any person to the other roomates regularly.
The condos are run by a condo association and if anyone has any idea how to contact them and inform them of this man’s activities I would appreciate that information.
Nearly 3 Years of Constant Problems from Bronx Landlord
My husband and I moved into an apartment located at 740 Revere Avenue in the Bronx, NY in June of 2007. When we initially viewed the apartment it needed a lot of work and we were told that everything would be fixed by our move in date. Upon moving in we realized nothing had been done to fix the apartment. Over the last 2 1/2 years we have repaired the apartment ourselves. The appliances were broken and when we asked the landlord to replace them we were given the run around and then finally sent a “repair tech” who knew absolutely nothing about kitchen appliances. We fixed these ourselves as well. The same with a leaky kitchen pipe and broken toilet. Every time we brought a concern to the landlord, Mario, he called us liars and refused to resolve the issue. Many times he slammed doors in our faces or threatened to kick us out over complaints that should have been taken care of before we moved in. Although he can not fix our apartment he has been able to do major renovations on is own apartment below ours. We are often woken up at 5 or 6am to banging, power tools and yelling. We often times do not have clean running water. The final straw was the heat. Since we have moved in the landlord only turns the heat on when he is home. All day during the week and most weekends we are left without heat throughout the winter. We have been getting by with electric heaters. We confronted him about the heat and dirty water once again late in October, and were met with screaming and door slamming. He called us liars even though we had samples of the dirty water and record of the tempature in the apartment. He threatened to evict us again and tired of the problems we found a new apartment days later. When we told him of our impending move he threatened to sue us for moving. We have no lease and are current on our rent. He is currently refusing to return security deposits made because he is angry, even though the apartment is in pristine consition.
All in all this apartment has been a nightmare from day one. We have had nothing but problems from the landlord for basic things. He refuses to provide heat or clean water as mandated by law, he is childlike and petty when attempting to resolve a problem. I recommend anyone to stay away from this building if you are looking for a clean, hassle-free rental. We have been good, quiet tenants who always pay our rent on time and have never had problems with a landlord before. Upon signing a lease elsewhere we had a huge feeling of relief knowing that we will be leaving all of this behind.
