Lisa Thorp Kumar

Do not rent to Lisa Thorp Kumar from Vermont/Massachusetts/New Jersey.  She was a tenant for 8 months, and they were the worst 8 months I’ve ever had with a tenant.  She knows just enough about tenant/landlord laws to be dangerous - and uses it to her advantage to live rent free.  She moved in on 9/08 and said she was very happy.  When 10/08 rent was due, we got a letter with photocopies of receipts of “work” she had done in the apartment.  Work that 1) didn’t need to be done, and 2) if she wanted done, needed to be run by us as per the rental contract.  Then nothing but complaints month after month of ridiculous things/demands.  Then at the end of April 09, she gives her notice.  Not the 30 days required, but about 7 days, and says the rent is in the mail.  Guess what - no rent check has come.  Also, she destroyed the apartment.  She put tons of holes in the walls - put up all kinds of shelving that was never approved (and done in a very sloppy manner).  She left the place a complete mess, with rotting food in the refrigerator.  All told, we’re about $1,500 out with her, and that’s not including fixing up the apartment to show again.

She’s an extremely nasty person too.  Her husband is Ram Kumar.  She drives a 2003 Honda Civic with NJ registration.  Her last employer (at least it’s who she told us it was) is Anne Britton who lives in Brattleboro, VT.  She claimed she moved to MA to become a nanny, but we never got that information from her.

This website should be ashamed of itself for posting this slanderous statement.  I had to call the Lynn Police on Jay Laurino because he and his wife were harrassing and threatening me.  He is lucky I did not file any legal actions against him for all the laws he broke and all the code violations of his apartment that was illegal to rent (even the POLICE said so).  Everything he has put here is a lie. I left that place better than I found it. He was supposed to clean up the place before I moved in and instead he left it completely filthy with DRIED BLOOD IN THE FRIDGE and I cannot tell you how many code violations (I HAVE PHOTOS TO PROVE IT!!) I improved it, renovated it, even built shelves (professionally and which HE SAW AND SAID HE LIKED!) which I left there - all out of my pocket and no reimbursement from him.  The little reimbursement I asked for he threw a giant temper tantrum and threatened to evict me.  All illegal.  Shame on tenantdispute.com for publishing this slander!  I have NUMEROUS LEGAL DOCUMENTS TO PROVE WHAT I AM SAYING IS TRUE!!!  What does he have, nothing.  This is just another lame attempt to continue his harrassment of me after I am long gone.

the more i think about this woman the more questions i asked my former housemate’s 1st floor Dan Fox, 2nd floor Mark Oconnor & Maria Jimenez.this woman is the one making slanderous statements, and after talking to my former land lord about this statement all he had to say was (let her show you her last months rent recpt, there is none she skipped out with out paying!and please by all means let her show you all the proof she has) i am going to ask all his former tennants to post on this site ,he did me a huge favor and with out his help i would not be in my own home now.
