The landlords are absolutely horrendous people and they are never actually on premise. The heat was just out for 1 full week during Christmas (from the Wednesday before to the next Weds) due to the boiler being broken. This place is in Pennsylvania by the way, which means temperatures in the 20’s...So they bring space heaters around that do absolutely nothing...mine only goes up to 66 degrees and you don’t feel any heat from it unless you are literally 1 foot away or closer. So I call to complain and ask for a reduction on my rent for the next month since I was unable to live in a 23 degree apartment. They have been giving me such a hard time, giving me the run around and putting words in my mouth. You don’t even know the things this woman was trying to say to me, so demeaning and nasty--no one should be spoken to the way she spoke to me, a person who is paying HER money to live in an absolutely run-down craphole. The place should seriously be condemned. I am honestly going to try to get someone from a health board to check this place out...they they’ll really regret treating me the way they did. They try telling me that they do not need to give me a discount because they provided me with a heater (a completely non-effective one), and because they apparently spent around $25,000 to have the boiler repaired. They say it was completely not in their control. I just can’t get over how the female landlord spoke to me...literally putting words in my mouth and making up stories. I mentioned that I had to commute from my parents house the next state over because I could not live in my apartment. So she then says “oh so you weren’t even at your apartment, you went away for the holidays,” and I correct her, saying that I stayed in my apartment as long as I possibly could, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and then proceded to stay at my parents house for the remainder of the weekend as well as this week, with a 1 hour commute after a huge snowstorm. So last night after work I returned to my apartment to check my heat since I was informed on one of my calls to try to get my rent reduction. I get there and the heat of course is not working in my apartment, but is working across the hall as per my neighbor. So of course the management office does not answer the phone past 5 pm, which makes it difficult for people who work, and I left a voicemail on the maintenance extension as well as the main receptionist extension. Of course did not get a call back. When I called today to let them know, this was news to the landlord, and she flat out just said “well it should be working.” So of course i reply “I’m not LYING to you...I touched my heater--which has been left on--and it is ice cold!!!!!” So when I tell her I can come home during my lunch break to have someone check out my thermostat she says she’ll have someone come by on their own--shady--and tries to hurry me off the phone. So I ask her if they’ll call me to let me know once it’s been checked so I can know when it will be fixed and she tells me to call in 2 hours.
So I’ve spoken to these people 5 times about my rent reduction, and they will still not give me a straight answer...each time they say to call back when another person is there--and only 3 people work there!!! Yesterday I was told to call back on Monday, which of course is the new year, new month, so I say well then if I wait til Monday my rent will be late and then you’ll try to charge me a late fee!!!! So I was then told to call today, which I did which is when I got crap about not being in my freezing cold apt for a few days and requesting my thermostat to be fixed in the middle of the winter!!! She tells me again I have to call back later about the rent. This is getting to be absolutely ridiculous I’m honestly thinking about taking them to court and reporting them to as many sources as possible.
Do not rent from these people
they HAVE BEEN SUED MANY TIMES
AND HAVE A HIGH TURN OVER IN APARTMENTS

There is no recourse action you can take
and if your not careful THEY will enter when your not home.
